For the last week, I’ve been completely decluttering my apartment. I wouldn’t consider myself a messy person, but I do tend to hold on to things. On the outside, my space looks pretty clean, but inside my drawers, cabinets, and closets, there are little miscellaneous things that have no purpose. And yet for some reason, they’re there. Little boxes from Warby Parker, way too many mini canvas bags from Mejuri, and random branded tote bags from PR packages, to name a few. They may be small, but these things add up!
My partner and I have been focused on this long overdue deep decluttering and it’s been fulfilling. We’re swapping things in closets, getting rid of furniture, and selling and donating clothing. It feels incredible to let go of things. Sometimes you just need to be ruthless. If you haven’t used it or worn it in years, be honest with yourself if this is something you need. I am exhausted though!! This is such a big time commitment and once you’re in it, you’re in it. Worth it though.
May’s Small Pleasures
Going to the Catskills at the beginning of the month and fly fishing with my partner — and by that, I mean I'm sitting on a rock and reading my book. I do want to learn though!
Turning 30!!!! But I also keep forgetting I’m 30 now!!
Hosting a birthday party and enjoying lots of birthday cake.
Being on top of my skincare routine. Last summer, I went to an aesthetician and I had really dry skin. She gave me a rundown of what to use and after months of consistency, I’m really happy with how my skin’s feeling.
Tinted moisturizer. I don’t wear much makeup, but I love a tinted moisturizer. I’ve been using the Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 for years and recently got the Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF 40. It’s just what I needed. I wore it the other day and was glowing the entire day.
My blue cotton shorts. I’ll never stop talking about them.
Fun design week events. I came across the furniture brand Riffmade and fell in love with their use of curtains. In case you didn’t know, I commissioned a curtain for my kitchen island last summer to create more storage. I wrote about it here.
Chatting with The Strategist for a fun piece: The Best Espadrilles, According to Some of the Most Tasteful People I Know.
Advising for a new interiors app called Onsmble that’s launching soon and you should follow them. They’re featuring fun apartment tours of people in NYC. Watch this space!!!
Wearing my buttery Jeffrey Campbell Trustee Pumps so much that I finally needed to get a black pair, too.
All the rainy days. I know, I know. I just love May showers! Those long stretches of cloudy days make me happy, especially because soon, it’ll start feeling hot and sticky again.
Dropping off a bunch of rolls of film at my favorite spot and getting back months and months of memories.
Reading Ninth Street Women before going to bed and right when I wake up.
A 100% $10 silk scarf I got at Yesterday’s News
